Why should I book directly on this website?
Booking direct means you're dealing with us — which gets you the best available rate, full control over your booking and direct access to our Events Team if you're booking a conference, wedding or function alongside accommodation.
What are your check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is by 10:00 am.
What are your reception hours?
Monday to Thursday 8:30 am – 8:30 pm; Friday 8:30 am – 9:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am – 10:00 pm; Sunday 9:30 am – 5:00 pm. If you're arriving outside reception hours, please let us know in advance — we'll process pre-payment via credit card for security.
How far is the Melbourne CBD?
About 25 minutes by car, and similar from Melbourne Airport. Eltham railway station is on the Hurstbridge line, and the hotel is a short taxi or rideshare from the station.
Is parking free?
Yes — free on-site parking is available for all guests.
Are the rooms non-smoking?
Yes — all rooms at Eltham Gateway are non-smoking.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes — complimentary high-speed wireless internet is available in every room and throughout the property.
Do rooms have TVs?
Yes — every suite has a colour LED/LCD TV (42″ Full HD in the Deluxe Hotel Rooms; 49″ in the Hillview Spa Suites). Complimentary DVD players are available from reception.
Is there a restaurant or bar on-site?
Yes — Strada Bar & Lounge is our in-house bar and lounge. Room service is available Tuesday to Saturday.
Can I have a wedding here?
Yes — we offer a comprehensive wedding service, from a Conservatory ceremony to a complete in-house decoration service. Our Deluxe Marble Spa Suite is a popular choice for honeymooners.
Do you host conferences?
Yes — we have three conference rooms (Illuka boardroom, the larger Gateway and Statesman rooms) and a dedicated Events Team. Our Day Conference Package includes the room, all tea/coffee breaks, buffet lunch and a full conference equipment package.
What's the policy for cash-paying guests?
Guests paying by cash are required to leave a $100 cash bond or credit-card details, refundable on departure.
What's there to do nearby?
Plenty — Eltham is famous for its Heidelberg School Artists' Trail, the Montsalvat artists' community, mud-brick architecture (don't miss the Eltham Library), local arts and craft galleries, and the regular Eltham markets. We're also the gateway to the Yarra Valley — 90-plus cellar doors at Coldstream, Healesville and Yarra Glen are a 25–40 minute drive away. Our Events Team can organise Yarra Valley excursions for conference groups.
